Computer generated monkey…?

April 26, 2007 by P Penguin

stiller_museum.jpgA couple months ago I went to one of R&H’s presentation about their works in Night at the Museum. The fact that most animals in the film were completely computer generated wasn’t all that surprising, was it? They looked completely real, so real that I didn’t realize Dexter the monkey was actually a real monkey. Not until I watched the special edition DVD last night. Her real name’s Crystal.

Partly because Crystal’s performance was really smart. So smart I didn’t think you can train monkeys to do. I know monkeys aren’t stupid, but still… She slapped Stiller in his face, swang down a vine to tear the manual, bit him in the face and pee’d on him. Those were all real.

Tahoe trip April 2007

My second snow boarding trip. Weeeee~

We arrived at Sierra On Saturday, 14th April. At first, I only had a biking sunglasses. But thanks to the snow storm, I had to buy myself a beanie, actual goggles and a mask. Those items made me look like a real pro… If only I wasn’t rolling down the hill.

Following the trail map, this place has an “easy” route leading down from the top of the mountain. So together we took the cable up to the top.

“We’ll meet you at 4!” said my group, and everyone left. Leaving me standing there on top of the mountain with 2 other beginners. We were all speechless because it sure didn’t look easy for us >_>;

The snow was heavy, the hill looked so steep and there were big scary looking rocks and trees all over the place.

Did I mention I barely knew how to snowboard? xD

Ouch.

Zbrush 3 beta images… exciting stuff!

My first impression was, wow. My second impression was, also, wow. I can’t remember when the last time was that my blood pumped with excitement waiting to play with a new toy.

Zbrush gallery usually features many complicating looking creatures with lots of wrinkles and very bumpy skins. These are never my thing.

However, I loved classical Greek/Roman statues and sculptures. which is why this piece to the left became my instant favourite among the beta images. Created by Ambient-Whisper, you can see the full size images Here.

Meats Meier was also beta testing this bad boy and had produced many amazing pieces as usual. You can view them Here.

If you want to see more, make sure to browse the ZBrush 3 BetaTesters Images forum! :)
